Dr. Eduardo Escorcia, OD | Miami
Eduardo Escorcia, OD Graduated with honors from Nova Southeastern University. He was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society and completed two ocular disease externships. Dr. Escorcia also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Florida International University. Dr. Escorcia is a Miami native fluent in English and Spanish and is a dedicated optometrist with passion for providing exceptional eye care. In his spare time Dr. Escorcia enjoys traveling, discovering new music, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Christina Leong, OD | Miami
Dr. Christina Leong was born and raised in San Francisco, California, where her passion for optometry began as a technician in 2009. In 2017, she pursued her dreams by completing her training at the New England College of Optometry in Boston. During her first year of optometry school, Dr. Leong learned about Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (BPEI) as a prestigious externship site for fourth-year students. Unfortunately, in her fourth year, Dr. Leong's scheduled six-month rotation at BPEI was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Viewing challenges as opportunities, she relocated to complete her externship under Dr. Ed Boshnick, a specialist in scleral lens fitting with 30 years of experience. Under his guidance, Dr. Leong witnessed the restorative and life-changing impact of scleral lens fits on patients with irregular corneas. Since 2021, Dr. Leong has incorporated gas permeable, hybrid, scleral lens, and cosmetic soft contact lenses to mask corneal irregularities into her practice. In 2024, she achieved a full-circle moment when she was given the opportunity to practice at Optical Express at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, doing what she loves and working alongside some of the brightest minds in the field.
Dr. Richard Morales, OD | Coral Gables - The Lennar Foundation Medical Center
Richard Morales, OD is a cuban born optometrist raised in Miami, FL. Dr. Morales found his passion for eye care at age 15 while volunteering at BPEI during high school. He attended FIU for his Bachelors in Biological Sciences and eventually graduated with Honors from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. While in school Dr. Morales was a member of the Betta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, completed two ocular disease externship rotations, and awarded the Extern of the Year Award at one of the ophthalmology rotations. Dr. Morales is passionate about providing exceptional eye care and improving the lives of his patients.
Dr. Michael Valle, OD | Plantation
Dr. Valle is a native Floridian who grew up in Hialeah, FL. After completing his undergraduate degree at The Cooper Union in New York, he graduated with a Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University in 2010. At his time at Nova, Dr. Valle was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa optometric honor society. While at NSU, his clinical rotations included working at the Aran Eye institute where he gained extensive knowledge in Glaucoma, cataracts and LASIK.
Dr. Valle is dedicated to the well-being of his patients and makes it a priority to educate his patients so they can understand the status of their eye health. Dr. Valle is fluent in English and Spanish.
Dr. Stephanie Frankel, OD | Miami
Dr. Stephanie Frankel currently utilizes a technology-based specialty contact lens practice in an academic setting, targeting visual rehabilitation and treatment of ocular disease using specialty lenses. She completed her undergraduate education at University of Central Florida with dual bachelor’s degrees in biology, as well as Molecular and Micobiology. She then moved on to complete her Doctor of Optometry degree at Nova Southeastern University with honors and voted as Optometry Student of the year. Shortly after the completion of her doctorate degree she accomplished her residency in ocular disease at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and joined an MD/OD private practice, where she established a successful dry eye clinic that focused on recalcitrant dry eye and began her research in ocular surface disease. In 2018 she was approached to join the ocular surface team at Bascom Palmer and given the challenge of starting a scleral lens program within the University of Miami/Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She provided scleral lens services in Miami using the newest technology and completed about 300 fittings annually for 6 years. She obtained the titles of Director of the Scleral Lens program and Associate Medical director of the Ocular Surface Center of Excellence at the University of Miami/Bascom Palmer Eye Instutute. She has served as a co-investigator in several research studies sponsored by the NIH, with a focus on Phenotypes of Inflammatory and Neuropathic Ocular Pain Conditions using Morphologic Measures and Functional Brain Imaging, as well as Corneal Inflammatory diseases. She is a member of the American Academy of Optometry and is actively undergoing her fellowship in cornea and contact lens. She has also completed several lectures at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute as well as the Inter-American Course in Clinical Ophthalmology. She has completed numerous publications and serves on the medical advisory board of several pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Frankel is happily married to a fellow optometrist and they have two sons together. She has special interests in long-distance running, reading, and overall mental and physical health.
Dr. Miriam Farag, OD | Palm Beach Gardens
Dr. Farag is originally from sunny south Florida. She obtained her undergraduate degree inBiology from Florida Atlantic University. Prior to her joining our team, she held a position as a clinical faculty member at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Optometry teaching students, and has been in medical practices for over a decade. Dr. Farag also practiced full scope Optometry including diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions of the eye at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, ranked the number one Eye Institute in the country. She has also published and presented multiple posters at the American Academy of Optometry and South Eastern Congress of Optometry meetings. Dr. Farag received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2005, and in 2006 completed a residency in Acquired Brain Injury/ Vision Rehabilitation and Pediatrics at the State University of New York University Optometric Center. In 2009, she received her Fellowship at the American Academy of Optometry. She has a strong passion for working with patients with binocular visual deficits and visual processing disorders.
Dr. Farag has lectured on acquired brain injury visual deficits and neuro-optometric rehabilitation in Beijing, China, New York, and various continuing education courses in Florida. Dr. Farag is currently a member of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Farag’s personal interests include spending time with friends, family and her two young children as well as her furry baby Remy. She also enjoys traveling, learning about and experiencing different cultures, wine tasting, horseback riding, and the beach. Dr. Farag sees patients for comprehensive vision exams, eyeglasses and contact lenses.
